A batch infuses in a couple of days. The kit includes a metal sieve, measuring spoons, tasting pipettes, a funnel, and bottle tags and string.
They add a bottle of inexpensive vodka per batch, and inexpensive is right rather than mean: the delicate character of a premium vodka is lost under the juniper. There is no distilling anywhere in this, only infusion, and it is a kit for adults aged 18 and over.

The Ultimate Meat Making Kit is four projects in one box: dry cured bacon, beef jerky, biltong and doner kebabs. For someone who cooks meat well and has run out of things to try, it is an unusually good use of twenty pounds.
It works with a cold cure, so there is no smoker and no specialist equipment. The bacon takes about a week from rubbing in the cure to the first rasher, while the jerky and biltong are same-day jobs in an ordinary oven. They buy the meat: pork belly for the bacon, lean beef for the jerky and biltong, and lamb for the kebabs.
Two honest notes. The bacon cure contains sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate, which are what protect the meat while it cures and make home curing straightforward and safe, and home-cured bacon is always cooked through before eating. The jerky and biltong use no cure at all, just the seasonings.
Kintsugi Kit, £16.99
The Kintsugi Kit is the one people are most surprised by at this price, because it looks like a craft workshop in a box and behaves like one. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery so the seam is picked out in gold rather than disguised, the wabi-sabi idea that a mended thing is more interesting than an unbroken one.
Inside are a two-part epoxy adhesive, a spreader and mixing card, gold-effect mica pigment powder, gloves, a booklet and two practice bowls, which is what makes it a complete present: nothing to add, and no need to risk a treasured piece on the first attempt. Each join is held for thirty to sixty seconds and there is no kiln or oven anywhere in the process.
It is an adults-only kit, since the adhesive is strong stuff, and a repaired piece is decorative rather than crockery. The adhesive is not food grade, so a mended bowl should not be used for food or drink, and it must not go in the dishwasher.
