What's in the colour changing gin kit?
Dried blue pea flowers and full instructions, enough to make up to five 700ml bottles. You add the gin.
How does the colour change work?
The blue pea flowers turn the gin deep blue. When you add tonic or another acidic mixer it shifts to pink or purple in the glass, so the change happens as you pour.
What gin do I use?
A plain, uncoloured gin you like the taste of. Coloured or heavily flavoured gins mask the effect.
How long does it take?
About 12 hours to infuse the flowers into the gin, then it is ready to pour and impress.
Does it change colour every time?
Yes. Once infused, the colour shifts each time you add an acidic mixer, and it stays changed. The magic is in the pour.
How many bottles does it make?
Up to five 700ml bottles.
Can I make a non-alcoholic version?
Yes. The same blue pea flowers colour-change in a non-alcoholic base, so you can make an alcohol-free version for everyone to enjoy.
