Make your own spiced rum at home

Making your own spiced rum could not be simpler. Add a bottle of inexpensive dark rum to the spices, let it infuse for 72 hours, then filter and bottle. The Spiced Rum Making Kit makes two 700ml batches in two flavours, a classic Captain's blend and a zingy Jamaican ginger, and includes the jar, filter, pipette and instructions.

    How it works

    1. Add a spice sachet and a bottle of dark rum to the jar.
    2. Infuse in a cool dark place for 72 hours, tasting with the pipette as you go.
    3. Filter out the spices, let it settle for a couple of days, then filter again for a clearer rum.
    4. Bottle, label and serve.
